SUMMARY:WP FUTURE Education & Training Event on the scientific basis and safety relevant aspects of radionuclide transport and retention
DESCRIPTION:Summary\nWP FUTURE is holding Education & Training Event on the scientific basis and safety relevant aspects of radionuclide transport and retention. The event could be of relevance to a broad audience of researchers\, especially early carrier scientists\, interested at better understanding the radionuclide retention mechanisms and their role in different disposal concept. \nObjectives\nProvide an overview of retention and transport processes\, the implication for performance assessment\, and the handling of uncertainties. \nLearning outcomes\nUpon completion of this training course\, participants should be able to discuss the scientific basis for repository safety assessment. \nProgramme\n\n12h00 – Introduction (Sergey Churakov\, PSI)\n12h05 – Geological disposal concepts (Norbert Maes\, SCK CEN)\n12h50 – Sorption and Redox processes (Felix Brand\, FZJ & Andreas Scheinost\, HZDR)\n13h35 – Coffee break\n13h55 – Radionuclide transport in clays (Martin Glaus\, PSI)\n14h40 – Radionuclide transport in crystalline rocks (Venda Havlova\, UJV)\n15h25 – Performance assessment & Safety analysis: uncertainties and country specific aspects (Thomas Kämpfer\, Nagra; Lukas Vondrovic and Lucie Mareda\, SURAO; Alex Liebscher\, BGE)\n16h55 – Closure\n\n\nLink\nJoin the event via this link.

SUMMARY:Thermodynamic data collection and assessment
DESCRIPTION:OECD Nuclear Energy Agency is pleased to announce the fifth edition of the course on “Thermodynamic data collection and assessment” organised by the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency within the Thermochemical Database (TDB) Project. The fifth edition will take place as a 2-session webinar (3 hours per session) on the 18th and 19th of November 2021. \nThe course will cover five main topics: \n\nTopic 1: Overview of the NEA and NEA TDB activities and projects\nTopic 2: Overview of guidelines for the collection and analysis of thermodynamic data\nTopic 3: Critical evaluation and assessment exercises\nTopic 4: Other thermodynamic databases and implementer’s perspective\nTopic 5: Cementitious systems\n\nInstructors: Xavier Gaona (KIT-INE\, Germany)\, Don Reed (LANL\, USA)\, Marcus Altmaier (KIT-INE\, Germany)\, Lara Duro (Amphos21\, Spain)\, Barbara Lothenbach (EMPA\, Switzerland)\, Jesus S. Martinez (OECD/NEA\, France). \nYou can find more information and registration details in the attached file as well as at: \nNuclear Energy Agency (NEA) – TDB Project course – 5th edition: Thermodynamic data collection and assessment (oecd-nea.org) \nYou can also contact us at tdb-course-2021@oecd-nea.org
