Research performed by Simona DOMESOVA.

The main aim of the thesis is to propose Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling procedures for the Bayesian solution of identification problems arising in geosciences. These procedures involve the construction of surrogate models and they are particularly suitable for problems governed by numerical solutions of PDEs.
