EURAD Final Event. (CIEMAT-EURAD).

Start date:23/04/2024
End date: 25/04/2024
Beneficiary: Francisco Javier LEON VICENTE
Location: Pullman Hotel, Bucharest

My doctoral thesis project “Geochemical and Redox Processes Influencing the Migration and Retention of Radionuclides in Deep Geological Storage” is part of the FUTURE work-package of the EURAD project. In this context, participating in this final meeting by making a scientific contribution in the form of a poster allowed me to discuss aspects of my research with other researchers with years of experience in this field, establishing connections with other organizations and helping my development as a young researcher and future scientist. I believe it was a privilege to converse with so many people from different fields.

In addition to the poster session where I could contribute with my scientific input, the rest of the event was of great interest as well, with the corresponding summaries of the different work-packages of the EURAD project being presented. These summaries analyzed the initial objectives of each package, the contributions and results achieved during this period, and the most significant conclusions, exploring possible future research avenues in the next projects in which my Unit and, therefore, CIEMAT will be involved. Additionally, it was useful to learn about the different job options for the future.

Having worked in WP5-FUTURE, the presentations by Dr. Sergey Churakov were of special and great interest, particularly “Effect of solution chemistry on RN mobility in clays” and “Key conclusions from FUTURE WP.”

It was a rewarding experience and worthwhile in every sense.
