Organisation Description
The Bukov Underground Research Facility (URF) is situated in the village of Bukov, Žďár nad Sázavou district, Vysočina region, Czech Republic, at a depth of 550 metres. The facility serves as a test site for the Radioactive Waste Repository Authority to evaluate the behaviour of the rock environment and building materials at depths corresponding to a future deep geological repository for spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste. Located in crystalline rocks, the URF offers a high-strength, low-permeability environment representative of a future repository. The underground facility comprises a system of newly excavated galleries designed under differing geological conditions to meet the requirements of specific planned experiments. The facility is open for technical visits.
Potential Type of Collaboration
