Organisation Description
The X-ray Tomography Laboratory at JYU houses four tomographic scanners covering a resolution range from 50 nm to 500 µm. These instruments allow detailed visualisation of the internal structure of various samples, including materials relevant to radioactive waste management such as bentonite and rock. The laboratory also offers specialised equipment for sample preparation and in-situ testing, along with image processing workflows for analysing results. Examples include flow cells for hydromechanical testing of bentonite and characterisation of flow through fracture networks in rock samples.
Potential Type of Collaboration
Sharing of technical expertise; participation in working groups; access to data or facilities; joint research initiatives.
Areas of Collaboration
Microstructural characterisation of materials, including bentonite and host rock.
