Organisation Description
Danish Decommissioning operates two interim radioactive waste storage facilities:
1. LLW Storage Facility (Building No. 244): A simple warehouse containing approximately 5,000 drums of low-level waste (LLW). Drums are stacked and moved using a small truck. Limited climate control makes the facility unsuitable for long-term storage, and some drums show signs of corrosion. Plans are in place to repackage the waste into containers and transfer it to a new, upgraded storage facility around 2025, after which Building No. 244 will be decommissioned.
2. ILW Storage Facility (Building No. 249): A warehouse housing containers of intermediate-level waste (ILW) from decommissioning activities. Containers are stacked and moved by truck. Limited climate control renders the facility unsuitable for long-term storage. Containers are planned to be transferred to a new storage facility around 2025, after which Building No. 249 will be decommissioned.
Potential Type of Collaboration
Both facilities are open for technical visits. Sharing of technical expertise; access to data or facilities; training programmes or knowledge transfer activities.
