Organisation Description
The Post-Irradiation Examination Laboratory (PIEL) at ICN Romania is designed to support the nuclear industry, with a particular focus on CANDU-type power plants. PIEL is located adjacent to the TRIGA reactor and is interconnected to the reactor pool via a water channel, enabling the examination of freshly irradiated fuel or structural materials from the reactor within its hot cells. The laboratory is equipped with facilities and equipment for testing, handling, and analyzing nuclear fuel and structural materials from nuclear power plants, as well as for manufacturing sealed sources of nuclear radiation.
